Two more iconic restaurant chains will be closing branches in another blow to British high streets.

The Real Greek will shut nine of its Mediterranean restaurants across the UK, while trendy pizzeria Franco Manca will be closing 16, nine in London.

The Real Greek’s former owner Fulham Shore struck a rescue deal with Côte Brasserie parent The Karali Group last week, which saw the company buy 19 of the restaurant chain’s 28 branches.

The remaining nine are now closing for a total loss of 151 jobs.

Fulham Shore, which still owns Franco Manca, announced plans to shut some of the pizzeria’s sites as part of a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) process in April, and the plans are now moving ahead after being approved by creditors.

The restructuring plan will see the closure of 16 branches across the UK with around 225 job losses.

So which branches will be closing? Metro has rounded them up.

The closures come as the UK high street continues to struggle following the shutting of other restaurants like MEATliquor and Beefeater and Brewers Fayre.

Retail chains have also seen a surge in closures recently, with shops like Quiz Clothing, Southern Co-op, Gandys and others either falling into administration or having announced they’re at-risk of closures.
