Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed a series of closures for 2026, becoming the latest bank to shut sites across UK high streets.
The banking giant, which includes Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and the Bank of Scotland, has plans to close a number of branches throughout the remainder of the year.
It also has confirmed plans to close additional branches of its bank chains through the first half of 2027.
Lloyds says most of the closures are happening because customers have shifted to online banking, preferring to use the mobile app, the website, or phone.

Which Lloyds Bank branches are shutting?
A total of 44 Lloyds Bank branches are expected to close across the UK throughout the remainder of 2026, according to Lloyds Bank.
Meanwhile, another 13 will be forced to shut in the first half of 2027.

A total of 51 Halifax branches will close before the end of 2026, and Halifax has also confirmed that a further six of its branches will shut next year.

Only four Bank of Scotland branches have been confirmed to shut this year, and they include:

- Grangemouth, Stirlingshire – October 8
No closures have been announced for 2027.
High street closures
The high street has continued to see shops, banks and restaurants close down.
Over the weekend, Quiz Clothing shut the remainder of its 20 stores after falling into administration. Similarly, fashion retail chain Leading Labels announced store closures, as did Morrisons, which plans to close 100 of its Daily convenience stores.
Earlier in the year, restaurants Franco Manca and The Real Greek confirmed closures, along with Santander and Claire’s Accessories.
