Asda is expected to open dozens of new stores this month across the UK.
The supermarket chain is going against the recent trend of shop closures by launching 20 new sites in the coming weeks.
While the UK high street is experiencing an exodus of iconic brands, Asdahas its eyes set on expanding with new Express convenience stores.
Locations for the 23 stores set to open from October include multiple stores in London, Manchester, Liverpool and Bradford.

Express stores are smaller than Asda’s larger supermarkets and will sell groceries.
David Lepley, Chief Supply Chain Officer, said previously: ‘We’re thrilled to kick off the next phase of our Express rollout and bring our heritage in delivering outstanding value to more locations across the UK.
‘In just three years, we’ve grown from zero convenience stores to establishing a major presence in the channel, with almost 500 stores by the end of the year. This continued investment reflects the confidence we have in our convenience strategy and our focus on bringing Asda’s low prices to more local communities.’

What is Asda Express?
Asda has selected locations in town centres and near stations to target urban hubs, where it is not traditionally present.
Stores will have a range of around 3,000 products for everyday needs, including on-the-go lunches and ingredients for cooking.
The Express stores were first rolled out in 2022, before the launch paused briefly during Asda’s takeover of Co-op sites and EG Group.
