The first of the remaining October 7 hostages are being released this morning as part of the Israel-Hamas peace deal.
Crowds in Hostages Square in Tel Aviv cheered as news that seven hostages were being taken through Israeli-occupied Gaza broke.
They include Gali and Ziv Berman, Matan Angrest, Alon Ohel, Omri Miran, Eitan Mor and Guy Gilboa-Dallal, according to Ynet. The seven will be taken to the Rei’im base in southern Israel, where they will be reunited with their families.
Among those waiting is Ilan Dalal, the father of Guy Gilboa Dalal, who told Ynet: ‘We just want him to arrive and we will hug him and tell him that his nightmare is finally over and we are not leaving him alive.’
The Saudi Al-Hadath channel says the Red Cross has received a further seven living hostages in Gaza City after being handed over by Hamas’ military wing.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s office said he will award US President Donald Trump Israel’s highest civilian honor, the ‘Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor,’ for his efforts to bring the hostages home.
