Giants-Cubs game at Wrigley Field delayed by rain

The Cubs announced at 12:40 p,m. that the start of Friday afternoon’s game will be delayed past its 1:20 start due to weather in the area.

The team provided an update, saying they are aiming for a 2:20 p.m. first pitch, and advised fans at Wrigley Field to monitor the video board for further updates.

The Cubs are scheduled to open a three-game set against the San Francisco Giants, who are making their only visit to Wrigley Field this season. Edward Cabrera, fresh off the injured list because of a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand, is scheduled to face right-hander J.T. Ginn. The Giants are wrapping up a three-city, 10-game trip in which they have been hitting a ton (.335, 9 home runs) but pitching poorly (7.69 ERA).
