U.S. Representative Don Bacon (R-NE) is responding to criticism from MAGA supporters who complain about his unwavering support of Ukraine since Russia invaded the country in February 2022.
One MAGA X user wrote: “CRAP! Nebraska is stuck with this p.o.s. Pud @RepDonBacon until January. Who wants a bet that this RINO will [expletive] all over any Repub. legislation that would help all Americans. Loser, get another chummy picture with Zelinski [sic], and come back to vote for more laundered $$.”
Bacon replied with an image of a charging rhino, writing, “And I’m going to proudly make your head explode everyday until then. Headed to Ukraine again too. I’m a Reagan Republican… a real one.”
[NOTE: In January 2025, Bacon announced that he is retiring from Congress and will not seek re-election in 2026.]

Bacon was also criticized this week when he joined former Vice President Mike Pence in amplifying The Wall Street Journal op-ed ‘Is Ukraine Turning the Russian Tide?’ which argued that Putin’s “shrinking victory parade signals Ukraine’s military advances.”

Some X users questioned the Ukrainian military (“it continues to puzzle how two thirds of the Ukrainian men of fighting age had no desire to defend their freedom and democracy against an invading army. This insinuates that Ukraine’s policies are more in books than in the street”), to which Bacon replied: “They’ve been fighting and winning for four years. Stop believing Putin propaganda.”
