Phil Lesh is heading back to Stanford.
The legendary Grateful Dead bassist has announced a May 5 date at the university’s Frost Amphitheater with his Phil Lesh and Friends group.
Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. March 10, axs.com.
This Friends lineup features James Casey, Natalie Cressman, Jason Crosby, Jennifer Hartswick, Marcus King, Tony Leone and Grahame Lesh.
The Frost holds special significance for many fans, given that the Grateful Dead performed there 14 times during its storied career. Also, the band got its start in the Palo Alto area.
Last year, Phil Lesh and Friends — with a lineup that included Grahame Lesh, Scott Metzger, Joe Russo, John Scofield and Benmont Tench — drew a large crowd to watch them perform at Frost. The show included such Dead favorites as “Truckin’” and “Playing in the Band.”
