The crash happened on the clockwise link road at J12 onto the M3.

The slip road will remain closed while the police carry out crash investigation work, it said.

Tailbacks are building up towards J10 for A3, while traffic is also moving slow on the opposite direction on the approach to the crash scene.

The affected slip road is the main artery for drivers exiting the M25 clockwise for attractions like Thorpe Park and Thorpe Lakes.

National Highways warned that it could take until 9.45pm for the scene to be cleared.

Metro has contacted the emergency services for a comment.

Friday saw mayhem on the M11 near Stansted after back-to-back multi-vehicle smashes on the motorway.

The most serious one involved two lorries and a van near the Essex and Cambridgeshire border, which closed the carriageway for hours.
