A gunman who entered a South Shore business with two other people and struck a security guard was shot and wounded moments later outside the business Tuesday night.
Three men wearing masks walked into the business in the 2300 block of East 79th Street about 7:20 p.m. when one of them hit a security guard in the face with his gun before they left, Chicago police said.
Another person outside fired shots at the three suspects, striking one, a 60-year-old man, in his chest, police said. He was arrested and taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. A firearm was recovered from him.
The other two suspects, and the shooter who struck the man, fled the scene, police said.
Area 2 detectives are investigating.
