How Denver youths with a summer job can get an extra $500

Denver wants to get the city’s young people working this summer.

The city is offering $500 to young residents who get summer jobs and up to $10,000 to employers who commit to hiring teenagers. The program is part of the city’s Family Friendly goal to place 2,500 youths in jobs.

To be eligible for the $500 bonus, young people ages 14 to 21 can apply at webportalapp.com/webform/youthworks_application_2025 through the Mayor’s Youthworks Initiative (tinyurl.com/8uzyt9ea) if they have a summer job or summer job offer. The first 2,000 who meet eligibility requirements will be notified by email. Youths must apply by July 1. The funds will be disbursed after the program ends in August.

To be eligible for the funds, young people must work at least 100 hours between April 1 and Aug. 15. Recipients also must watch 10 financial literacy videos on the Youthworks website.

Employers who want to provide a positive work environment, mentorship, and skill development to teenagers 14 to 17 can receive a $1,000 incentive for each teenager they hire, up to ten kids.

The city is offering four virtual job fairs from April through June and two in-person job fairs on April 12 and May 17 for young people looking for summer work.

Youths who apply for the bonus must not be self-employed and must have a job or offer when they apply. Anyone with questions can email youthworks@denvergov.org for more information.
