Early voting for the June 2 primary election has begun in Los Angeles County.
Some voters have already received their ballots; for everyone else who’s registered, keep an eye out for them in your mailbox in the coming days
The Los Angeles County registrar’s office began mailing ballots Thursday, the same day it made available hundreds of drop boxes throughout the county for voters to return their ballots early.
Here are several options for returning your ballot:
• Mail it back via the U.S. Postal Service. No postage is required. Ballots must be postmarked by June 2, but voters are encouraged to mail them at least seven days before Election Day to ensure timely delivery.
• Drop it off at any of the more than 400 official ballot drop boxes across the county. Check lavote.gov/dropbox for locations.
• Starting May 23, voters can drop off their marked ballots or vote in person at a vote center, including on Memorial Day. Additional vote centers will open starting May 30, the weekend before Election Day. Daily operating hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., except on Election Day, when the centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. For locations, visit locator.lavote.gov.
• If you wish to vote in person before May 23, head over to Room 3002 at the L.A. County registrar’s main office, 12400 Imperial Highway in Norwalk. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.

Eligible voters who haven’t registered to vote but would like to vote by mail have until May 18 to sign up. If you miss the deadline, you can still cast a conditional ballot, but you must vote in person at a vote center.
