Next inspection at 3.30 (IST)
As rain has started falling again, the inspection has been scheduled for half an hour from now, that is, 11.00 (local time) and 3.30 PM (IST). Captain Virat Kohli and Vijay Shankar and other Indian players are just having a look at the ground from the dressing room balcony.
The rain has gotten heavier and the hover cover is back on and thus the inspection will also be delayed. The ground reports say there is no breeze and hence even if it stops raining, it will take time to dry up the ground.

Umpires speak on match start!
This is what umpire Marais Erasmus has to stay on the conditions at Trent Bridge at the moment.
“Very damp conditions here. The pitch looks fine but there are few muddy areas. There’s no sun or wind, so it’ll take a while to dry. The groundstaff’s given us no timeline on how long that may take. We’ve got those 75 minutes (that can be added) and maybe a shortened game. There’s a lot of time and we shall have to wait. Seems like a slow-drying day.”
