A 20-year-old Indiana man is facing charges after he allegedly attempted an armed robbery Tuesday morning at an Orland Park gas station.
Orland Park police responded at about 9 a.m. to reports of gunfire at a Shell gas station at 15100 Harlem Ave., village officials said in a statement.
Police said Christopher Brown, who was masked, approached a man pumping gas and pointed a gun at him while demanding his property.
The man, an Illinois concealed carry license holder, fired a gun and struck Brown once in the cheek, police said.
Brown fled the area and was found in a parking lot near 15100 73rd Ave., police said. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said. The other man was not injured.
Police said the vehicle Brown drove and his weapon were reported stolen from Michigan City, Indiana.
Brown was charged by Cook County prosecutors with attempted armed robbery, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, and two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, police said.
