Kelly Clarkson has postponed the remainder of her Las Vegas residency as her ex-husband contends with health issues and the pop star needs to prioritize their young family.
The 43-year-old Grammy-winning “American Idol” alum — who announced the residency in February — opened up to fans late Thursday on Instagram.
“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August ‘Studio Session’ dates in Las Vegas. While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill,” said the eponymous talk show host, referring to ex-husband and former manager Brandon Blackstock. “And at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”
Clarkson, who wed Blackstock in 2013, said she was “sincerely sorry” to ticket-holders: “I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
The exes’ nasty divorce was finalized in March 2022, nearly two years after the “Breakaway” crooner — previously managed by her eventual father-in-law — filed.
Though Clarkson was ordered to make a one-time payment of over $1 million and pay monthly spousal support until January 2024 aw well as monthly child support, Blackstock in late 2023 was ordered to return more than $2.6 million he allegedly overcharged for finalizing her deals and gigs.
A couple months later, the Daytime Emmy winner told People she’d “never wanted to get married” but that it was important to her ex to tie the knot.
“Because I’ve been through a couple divorces in my family, I just don’t like to put any weight on it,” said Clarkson in early 2024.
While she won’t rule out a second marriage, she says she “definitely would never even think about it until (the kids are) out of my house.”
Together, Clarkson and Blackstock share daughter River, 11, and 9-year-old son Remington.
It’s unclear whether Blackstock’s health caused Clarkson’s multiple absences from her talk show earlier this year, which Deadline attributed to “private” reasons.
