Kendall Gill, Will Perdue, Scott Williams and Robbie Hummel are expected to be in the rotation to replace the late Stacey King as Bulls TV analyst alongside play-by-play voice Adam Amin, the Sun-Times has learned.
Gill is a longtime Bulls studio analyst who will take his first crack at being an NBA game analyst. Perdue, who worked with Gill in the studio and shared the NBA G League Windy City Bulls analyst job with him, was an analyst beside the late Jim Durham on ESPN Radio.
Williams has been a college and NBA analyst, and he’s expected to continue in his college role at ESPN. Hummel likely would have the fewest games because of his national obligations with Big Ten Network, CBS, NBC and Turner, for whom he works college and NBA games. He has filled in on Bulls broadcasts before.
King died at his home June 7 at age 59. He had been the Bulls’ TV analyst for 20 years, entertaining fans with his humor, wit and trademark sayings. The Bulls have been expected to rotate analysts, at least in the first season after King’s death, to alleviate the pressure of replacing him and audition analysts for a permanent job.
The Bulls return this fall for their third season on Chicago Sports Network, which is scheduled to air all but three of the team’s 82 games. The season opener is Oct. 21 at Toronto, and the home opener is Oct. 24 against the Wizards, both on CHSN.
