Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation and Department of Mental Health celebrated the opening of new Wellbeing Spaces at 14 county parks, including a grand opening at Lennox Park on Wednesday.

The sites feature the new Our SPOT Teen Lounges and community Wellbeing Space areas, where young people can hang out in safe environments.

Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell was on hand for the grand opening in Lennox.

The centers are part of a $15 million investment to expand access to wellness, recreation and social connection for youth around the county, officials said.

“From transportation and hot supper meals to financial literacy, arts and culture, college and career exploration, and meaningful connections with caring staff — these lounges are more than a place to gather,” according to a county media release. “They’re a place to feel safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.Come celebrate with us — all are welcome!”
