The Los Angeles Mission hosted a free pet wellness clinic for lower-income residents in Downtown L.A. on Friday.
The clinic offered vaccines, flea treatment, wellness care and pet supplies — including pet food, snacks, chew toys and catnip — among other services.
According to a statement from the Mission: “The annual Pet Wellness Day recognizes a simple but often overlooked reality: for many people experiencing homelessness, a pet is far more than a companion. It is family, emotional support, protection, and unconditional love. Yet routine veterinary care, vaccinations, flea treatment, food, and basic pet supplies are often financially out of reach.”
Among the organizations teaming up for the event: Dogs Matter, SPCA-LA, Downtown Dog Rescue, Caravita Foundation, WUFAW and Best Friends Animal Society.
Celebrities pitching in to help included Deidre Hall, Clint Houward and Kate Linder.
