LAFC opens 2026 MLS season hosting Messi and Inter Miami CF at the Coliseum

The Los Angeles Football Club’s current Major League Soccer season will conclude at some point during the next three weeks pending playoff results, but the upcoming 2026 campaign is already making news.

On Thursday, MLS revealed next year’s 34-game regular season schedule, and LAFC has a prominent spot on opening day, when the Black & Gold host Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF on Feb. 21 at the 77,500-seat Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Six of LAFC’s first nine home games take place in L.A.

The league will pause games from May 25 to July 16 for the FIFA World Cup set in Mexico, the U.S. and Canada.

LAFC has 15 games prior to the break. None feature the rival L.A. Galaxy.

The first of two regular-season “El Trafico” contests rings in the second half of the calendar with a nationally televised match July 17 at Dignity Health Sports Park on FOX.

LAFC has five contests on FOX or FS1, alongside every match on Apple TV, including at Austin (March 21), at Portland (April 19), at Minnesota (April 25) and a home clash against Seattle (May 24).

The season series against the Galaxy concludes Oct. 25 at BMO Stadium with LAFC’s third-to-last league contest.

Decision Day is Nov. 7 at Lumen Field in Seattle.

Following the start of the season against Miami, LAFC will operate out of its permanent home across the way from the Coliseum, at the 22,000-seat BMO Stadium, for its 16 remaining home dates.

Tickets for the season opener and all regular-season home games go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Dec. 8.

In addition to Inter Miami, LAFC welcomes Eastern Conference foes Orlando and New York City to Exposition Park.

Led by a yet-to-be named head coach, LAFC also travels to Nashville, D.C. United and the New York Red Bulls.

For the third straight year, LAFC visits the San Jose Earthquakes at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. They clash on Sept. 19.

The 2026 All-Star Game takes place July 29 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

And the postseason will unfold uninterrupted following the November FIFA window with a month’s worth of MLS Cup playoffs games. The complete postseason schedule, including the MLS Cup final, will be announced at a later date.
