A Lake County man was charged with threatening to kill President Donald Trump, according to a release from the U.S. attorney’s office.
Trent Schneider, 57, of Winthrop Harbor was ordered detained when he appeared in court Monday on charges of “making a threat in interstate commerce to injure a person.” He allegedly posted a video on Instagram threatening to buy guns and kill Trump, according to a criminal complaint.
“I’m going to get some guns,” he said in the video. “I know where I can get a lot of [expletive] guns and I am going to take care of business myself. I’m tired of all you [expletive] frauds. People need to [expletive] die and people are going to die. [Expletive] all of you, especially you Trump. You should be executed.”
A resident in Florida reported the video to law enforcement, according to the complaint.
Schneider is scheduled to appear in court at a detention hearing Friday.
