Lakers’ Austin Reaves missing 2nd straight game with groin injury

LOS ANGELES — Star guard Austin Reaves will miss his second consecutive game because of a groin injury when the Lakers host the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night at Crypto.com Arena.

The Lakers ruled Reaves out for Wednesday’s matchup because of right groin soreness, the same injury that held him out of Monday’s road win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Reaves was a full participant in the team’s morning shootaround, and was seen by media members getting shots up and playing one-on-one with an assistant coach, before the team downgraded him from questionable to unavailable shortly after shootaround ended.

The 27-year-old guard averaged 31.1 points (48.9% shooting), 9.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds in the Lakers’ first seven games.

Fellow star Luka Doncic will be available against the Spurs after also sitting out against the Blazers, which was the second night of a back-to-back set, because of lower left leg contusion injury management.

Backup center Jaxson Hayes was also upgraded to available after being listed as probable on the injury report because of a right ankle sprain he suffered against the Blazers.
