LAS VEGAS — Chris Mañon scored 16 points, Cameron Carr and Arthur Kaluma each added 14, and the Lakers rolled to a 105-82 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday afternoon to secure a spot in the semifinals of the NBA Summer League.
Adou Thiero added 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Lakers (4-0), while Jon Elmore contributed 11 points and five assists. Zhaire Smith also scored 11 points.
The Lakers, who shot 49% from the field and 9 for 27 from 3-point range, took control in the middle two quarters and led by as much as 32 points before coasting to the finish line. They used a 12-0 run to open a 56-40 lead by halftime, then outscored the Bulls 27-14 in the third quarter to remove all doubt.
Rookie Caleb Wilson had 21 points and eight rebounds (but eight turnovers) to pace the Bulls (1-3). Tobe Awaka and Boo Buie each added 12 points for Chicago, which shot just 38% overall and 3 for 33 from 3-point range.
The Lakers’ semifinal will be Saturday at a time to be determined against an opponent to be determined. The championship game, if they advance, is Sunday at 6 p.m. PT (ESPN).
