LOS ANGELES — The Lakers will play on their traditional court for Friday’s NBA Cup matchup against the Mavericks after technicians from the league’s court vendor determined that the Lakers’ Cup court was unplayable for Friday, team sources said.
The court is expected to undergo repairs and be available if the Lakers host their quarterfinals matchup of the tournament either on Dec. 9 or Dec. 10.
Multiple Lakers players noted how slippery the Lakers’ Cup Court was for Tuesday’s win over the Clippers, which was the first time the Lakers used the alternate court this season.
“It’s just slippery,” Luka Doncic said on Tuesday. “It’s dangerous. I slipped a lot of times and you could see a lot of players slipped. And that’s dangerous, man.”
Rui Hachimura added after Friday morning’s shootaround: “That was bad. I felt it right away. It just felt weird. Like oily, slippery. We’re going to do the normal court [tonight]. So, it will be fine.”
