The crash on northbound Interstate 680 happened near the Rudgear Road exit about 6 a.m. and caused the closure of four lanes in the northbound direction, according to the agency.

The wreck also brought the closure of the left lane on southbound I-680.

By 7:40 a.m., the CHP had opened the two far right-hand lanes on I-680 but the two far left lanes remained closed.

The CHP did not have details immediately on how the crash happened. They issued a Sig Alert for severe traffic.
