ALAMO — At least one person suffered major injuries in a multi-vehicle crash early Friday that blocked lanes on both sides of an East Bay freeway, the California Highway Patrol.

The crash on northbound Interstate 680 happened near the Rudgear Road exit about 6 a.m. and caused the closure of four lanes in the northbound direction, according to the agency.
The wreck also brought the closure of the left lane on southbound I-680.
By 7:40 a.m., the CHP had opened the two far right-hand lanes on I-680 but the two far left lanes remained closed.
The CHP did not have details immediately on how the crash happened. They issued a Sig Alert for severe traffic.
