Former RNC co-chair Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump, is being slammed online for criticizing the Democratic Party over its redistricting efforts in the state of Virginia.
As seen below on Fox News, Trump said of the Democrats: “They are trying to put their thumb on the scales.”
Portraying the Democratic Party as drifting perilously to the left, Trump contended that “whenever your party and your candidates are continuing to become more and more radical, you will have a harder time selling it to the American people, and the leadership understands that in the Democrat Party, so they are willing to do things like this to weigh it in their favor.”
Adding an example of what she characterized as this shift toward radicalism, Trump added, “They want to do things like eliminate the filibuster.”

Several X users are responding with comments, including, “Hilarious since it was the GOP who started this gerrymandering battle, and currently benefits far more from the practice.”

Other critics of Lara Trump are calling her out over the fact that President Trump has been pressuring Senate Republicans to kill the filibuster, which — if her assertion holds true — would make him a radical.
MAGA loyalist and U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) last week echoed Trump’s directive and wrote: “I have seen enough, and heard enough excuses. We cannot let Democrats sabotage this country. If nuking the filibuster is the only way to deliver on wildly popular legislation like the SAVE America Act, then we need to nuke the filibuster and start passing bills.”
