Lexus made quite an impression at this year’s Detroit Auto Show when it unveiled the rather tantalising LC Convertible concept. Well, there’s some good news as Roadshow reports that Lexus will put a production version of the concept on display at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.

For now, Lexus is keeping mum on the details, but the LC Convertible is expected to look almost identical to the concept, which is certainly a good thing. Word is the 2+2 cabin will also be retained, so putting passengers in the rear “seats” remains better as a suggestion than anything else.

On the days when keeping the elements out of the cabin takes priority, a folding soft top is the most probably solution, especially given the LC’s tight rear packaging – a hard top would take too much space.

The convertible should receive the same engines as the coupe, which includes the LC 500 with a 5.0 litre naturally-aspired V8 making 477 PS and 539 Nm of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

There’s also a hybrid powertrain in the LC 500h that employs a 3.5 litre V6 (299 PS and 365 Nm) paired with an electric motor (180 PS and 300 Nm) for a total system output of 359 PS. The Multi Stage Hybrid System uses a two-transmission setup that features a four-speed automatic gearbox connected to a CVT with two electric motors.
