Vegan cooking class
Plant-Based Advocates, a Los Gatos-based nonprofit that promotes a plant-based diet, lifestyle and food system, is hosting a cooking class on Zoom on May 1 with vegan author Colleen Patrick-Goudreau.
Patrick-Goudreau will teach attendees how to cook vegan polenta, carrot hot dogs and date truffles. The recipes are inspired by her new book “A Year of Compassion: 52 Weeks of Living Zero-Waste, Plant-Based, and Cruelty-Free.”
Attendees can register for the Zoom presentation on https://colleenpatrickgoudreau.com/zoomclass. The class starts at 5 p.m.
Shop for a Cause
Kismet and The Butter Paddle are teaming up for “Shop for a Cause,” a shopping fundraiser to benefit at-risk youth on May 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A percentage of the purchases at Kismet will go toward The Butter Paddle to support children and families in need. Each sale will go to Pacific Clinics, which provides mental and behavioral health services in Santa Clara County.
The Butter Paddle is run by more than 70 members of the EMQ Auxiliary. The shop curates merchandise, like home decor, baby gifts, jewelry and gourmet treats that are sourced from many local artisans and women-owned businesses.
Kismet is located at 100 N. Santa Cruz Ave. in Los Gatos.
