Los Gatos Walgreens location to close

Walgreens closing

The Los Gatos Walgreens at 14100 Blossom Hill Road is set to close on May 22.

“This is necessary as increased regulatory and reimbursement pressures weigh on our ability to cover the costs associated with rent, staffing and supply needs,” reads a statement by the pharmacy giant to this news organization.

The statement said patients who get their prescriptions filled at this location will be notified by mail, and their prescriptions will be automatically transferred to the Walgreens at 1376 Kooser Road in San Jose. These patients are also eligible to receive free for 90 days and are encouraged to speak to their pharmacist to learn how to set up the service.

There is another Walgreens store in downtown Los Gatos at 423 N. Santa Cruz Ave.

New name for Water Authority

The West Valley Clean Water Authority has been renamed to better reflect its purpose.

The redubbed West Valley Stormwater Authority said in a release that the new name is better aligned with its focus on stormwater pollution prevention and reduces confusion between the authority and other drinking water agencies.

“This new name better reflects our role in managing stormwater and preventing pollution in local waterways,” said Authority Board Chair Dan Furtado. “It also clarifies that we do not manage drinking water, but rather work to keep pollutants out of stormwater through community education, monitoring, enforcement.”

The agency is in charge of protecting local creeks, habitats and public health by managing stormwater runoff and reducing pollution in Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell and Monte Sereno.
