Luigi Mangione already has two ‘high-profile’ documentaries in the works about him

The mysterious Luigi Mangione is set to be the subject of not one, but two documentaries in the near future.

UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was killed outside a Manhattan hotel on December 4, with his hooded killer at large for a number of days afterwards.

But last week police arrested 26-year-old Luigi Mangione on suspicion of murder after receiving a tip-off that the suspect had been sighted at a McDonald’s.

In the days leading up to and following his arrest, the mystery of Mangione has captured the attention of the world – with millions wanting to know what drove the Italian-American to murder.

Mangione lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, and has connections in San Francisco

Now, it has been announced that two high-profile documentaries are in the works in the wake of the Mangione saga.

Two-time Emmy nominee Stephen Robert Morse, who produced a Netflix hit about Amanda Knox, will be working on one of the shows, with Anonymous Content and Jigsaw Prods announcing separate plans for a documentary.

Morse’s production is expected to explore the perspectives of those embroiled in and around the murder, including family members and Mangione himself.

The show will too take a look at the controversial issue of private healthcare.

Morse commented: ‘This case is complex and raises important questions about vigilantism, the devastating cost of a privatised healthcare system and the inevitability of violence when peaceful change is seen as possible.

‘My goal is to present a balanced exploration of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s assassination, showing all sides of the story while respecting the profound loss of life and its impact on everyone involved.

‘Every story is multidimensional, and I believe in treating all participants with kindness and fairness. This approach has always been central to my projects.’

Filmmaker Alex Gibney’s documentary for Anonymous Content will examine how killers are created and what Thompson’s murder says about our society and the values we place on who lives and who dies.

Luigi Mangione is currently being held at the Blair County, Pennsylvania jail, awaiting trial.

The Daily Mail reported that the suspected murderer is being represented by Karen Agnifilo, the wife of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’s representative Marc.

Mangione is believed to have met with his lawyer multiple times in jail, but is yet to receive any visits from family members.
