Luminox Just Dropped a Stealthy New Watch For America’s 250th Anniversary

Luminox watches are already battle-tested by the likes of the U.S. Navy SEALs, and its latest timepiece carries on a rugged lineage by giving back to servicemembers while honoring America’s 250th anniversary.

Partnering with patriotic lifestyle brand and charitable endeavor Volition America, the new Luminox X Volition America Continuum 250 Limited Edition benefits educational military charity Folds of Honor while also delivering reliable, field-ready performance. “The limited-edition watch commemorates the people, principles, and spirit of service that have helped shape the nation, and honors those who dedicate themselves to something greater than themselves,” the watchmaker said in a statement. “From those who make history in the spotlight to those who quietly carry out their duties without recognition, America has been shaped by generations of dedication and sacrifice.”

A portion of proceeds from every sale of the watch (offered at an MSRP of $895) go to Folds of Honor, which works to provide educational scholarships to the children of fallen heroes, the company notes. As worthy a cause as any, the timepiece isn’t without its own impressive set of performance specs and patriotic design inspiration. The Swiss-made 44mm timepiece, delivered in sleek stealth black, is water-resistant to 660 feet and uses a Swiss Quartz RONDA 515 movement featuring five years of battery life.

The American flag appears across the dial in a blacked-out design, “with the flag revealed through texture and light rather than traditional bold colors,” as Luminox notes. The Volition America logo appears in similarly subtle fashion on the streamlined black dial, while a red seconds hand offers a subtle pop of color. Like other performance-minded Luminox timepieces, the dial’s indices feature luminescent markings for visibility in extreme low-light conditions.

A uni-directional rotating bezel pairs in hard-wearing fashion with its black 316L stainless steel case and caseback, with the caseback receiving a limited-edition engraving once again featuring the Volition America logo. The timepiece is ultimately about more than adding a piece of military-approved everyday carry gear to one’s watch collection, however. “Volition America has always been about celebrating the values that bring us together while finding meaningful ways to give back to those who have sacrificed for our country,” said John Sapiente, CEO of Volition America. “As America approaches its 250th anniversary, this collaboration with Luminox gives us an opportunity to honor that legacy through a timepiece that represents strength, service and purpose.”

And rather than adorn the watch with a red, white and blue dial, Luminox said the understated dial design speaks to confidence and quiet strength, rather than proving too ostentatious. Nearly just as vital as the cause itself is the idea behind the durable design, Luminox notes. Crucially, the all-black stealth timepiece “retains the technical specifications of the Luminox Pacific Diver 3120 Series.” For just a shade under $900 and with the chance to give back to an exceptionally worthwhile cause, adding the Luminox X Volition America Continuum 250 Limited Edition to your watch collection could well be a patriotic power move.
