MAGA-aligned U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) responded to the news of the two U.S. troops being killed in an Iranian missile attack in Jordan by promoting a sanctions bill, which she has co-sponsored with Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH).
According to Britt: “Our sanctions bill will bring Russia, China, and Iran to its knees. Congress needs to pass it now. God bless our troops. Let’s give President Trump the tools he needs.”
To emphasize her push, Britt highlighted a sentence from a Wall Street Journal article which reported that according to U.S. officials: “Iran’s ability to hit sensitive targets also has raised concerns that the regime is getting targeting help from China or Russia.”

The bill, which was earlier championed by the late Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), targets countries purchasing Russian oil and gas that help fund Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war capabilities.
Britt said: “We know the very same people that are funding Russia and funding Putin’s war of aggression are the very same people funding Iran. And front and center of that is China.”
Britt added that the bill “will give President Trump the flexibility and the tools he needs, and the economic firepower to bring Putin to the table.”

[NOTE: Although Trump initiated the war in Iran in February, Britt applauded Trump for “knowing that when you are threatened, you do not respond with weakness, and when you are attacked, you do not retreat.”]
Both Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) said they are hopeful about passing the sanctions bill — and “in honor of Lindsey.”
