Man, 25, fighting for life and three others wounded in London drive-by shooting

A man is fighting for life in hospital after a drive-by shooting in Brixton last night.

Police were scrambled to Coldharbour Lane after shots were fired from a car shortly after 1am.

Four people were rushed to hospital, including a 25-year-old man who remains in a life-threatening condition.

The three others – aged 21, 47 and 70 – were assessed as suffering injuries which are neither life-threatening or life-changing.

No arrests have yet been made, but the Met said detectives are working ‘at pace’ to track down those responsible.

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo said: ‘We understand how concerning this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working at pace to identify those responsible.

‘This was an act of indiscriminate violence, and we will work relentlessly to bring the suspects to justice.

‘It is vital that anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information that could assist the investigation, comes forward.’

A Met Police spokesperson said: ‘Police were called at 1.14am on Saturday, May 2, following reports a firearm discharge on Coldharbour Lane, Brixton.

‘Officers, including specialist crime officers, were on scene within four minutes and provided emergency first aid alongside the London Ambulance Service.

‘Four people were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds. One man, aged 25, remains in a life‑threatening condition.’
