A man and a woman have been arrested in the shooting death early Saturday of a man in Belmont Shore, Long Beach police said Sunday.
Officers responded around 1:40 a.m. on Oct. 25 to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of La Verne Avenue. When police arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite receiving medical aid, the man was pronounced dead.
Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute that began at a nearby bar in Belmont Shore. The confrontation continued outside on La Verne Avenue, where a man allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim before fleeing in a vehicle, police said.
Police arrested two suspects, 41-year-old Jason Loving and 31-year-old Dasmine Hall.
Loving, a Harbor City resident, was arrested in Compton on suspicion of murder, being a prohibited firearms possesser, and a restraining order violation, Long Beach police said in a news release. His bail was set at $2 million.
Hall, a Compton resident, was at the scene during the shooting, police said, and fled with Loving. She was also arrested in Compton on suspicion of murder and being an accessory to murder. Her bail was set at $2 million.
The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of family. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
