Adams County sheriff’s deputies arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting Thursday at a mobile home community in the Welby neighborhood, agency officials said Friday.
Deputies arrested a man “in his late 30s” at his job on suspicion of murder at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. The sheriff’s office declined to release the man’s name, exact age or where he was arrested, citing a court motion to seal the case until next week.
But the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office confirmed the man arrested was 37-year-old Alex Anthony Martinez.
Court records also confirm Martinez was arrested Thursday and appeared in Adams County District Court on an arrest warrant Friday morning.
Martinez has not been formally charged and is set to return to court Wednesday for filing of charges, records show.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting in the Chaparral Village community, 3180 E. 88th Ave., early Thursday morning and later confirmed one person was killed and investigators were searching for one suspect.
The agency did not release any additional information about the victim or the shooting, but said there was no threat to the public.
Martinez is being held without bail at the Adams County Detention Center, according to court records.
