Man bashed head by bat, grazed by gunfire in South Shore attack

Police are seeking two people who clobbered a man in the head with a bat while the other shot him Monday night in South Shore.

The victim, a 26-year-old man, was in a vehicle in the 6800 block of South Merrill Avenue around 8:20 p.m. when two people approached and one of them struck him in the head with the bat, Chicago police said.

The 26-year-old then left the vehicle and was grazed in the back by gunfire when the other individual began shooting at him, officials said.

The man declined medical attention and appeared in good condition, police said.

Area 2 detectives were investigating.
