A man was hospitalized after being beaten by four men in the West Loop early Sunday morning, Chicago police said.
The man, 34, had gotten into a verbal altercation with four men in the 1500 block of West Fulton Street at 4:55 a.m. when the men started hitting him in the head and body, police said. Two men who tried to intervene to help the man being attacked were also injured.
The 34-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said. The two bystanders who intervened were treated at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing.
