Man dies after falling onto tracks at Clark/Lake station in Loop; Blue Line service temporarily suspended

CTA Blue Line service was disrupted for hours after a man fell onto the tracks and died early Tuesday at the Clark/Lake station in the Loop.

The man, who was not hit by a train, fell on the tracks just before 2 a.m. in the 100 block of West Lake Street, Chicago police said.

Police did not say if he touched the electrified third rail but the unidentified man was dead at the scene.

No trains were running between Grand and UIC-Halsted due to a “medical emergencies on the tracks,” according to a CTA alert. Shuttle buses were available to provide connecting service in both directions.

Area 3 detectives were conducting a death investigation.
