Man facing kidnapping, armed robbery charges after spree in North Lawndale

A man faces six felony charges and is accused of being involved in a kidnapping and series of armed robberies in North Lawndale that took place in less than an hour early Wednesday, according to Chicago police.

Marquis Terry, 21, faces four felony counts of armed robbery with a firearm, as well as aggravated battery and aggravated kidnapping, police said. A warrant was executed with his arrest.

In each instance, he was one of several people who approached victims and demanded their belongings at gunpoint, police said.

The first alleged incident took place in the 1700 block of South Keeler Avenue, where the men pointed weapons at a 36-year-old man before pulling him out of his vehicle, beating him and taking his property, police said.

Fifteen minutes later, in the 4100 block of West 26th Street, a similar incident was reported involving a 52-year-old man, in which the man was beaten in the head, police said.

Around 2:27 a.m., the group is accused of hitting a 31-year-old man in the back of the head and taking his belongings in the 2800 block of South Komensky Avenue, police said.

Seven minutes later, police said the group allegedly forced a 31-year-old man, who had been standing at an ATM in the 2700 block of South St. Louis Avenue, into their vehicle and drove him around to other ATMs, forcing him to withdraw money at gunpoint, police said. Eventually the man was able to escape and flagged down police.

Terry is set to appear in court Friday, police said.
