OAKLAND — A 25-year-old man was fatally shot apparently in East Oakland Monday night but investigators have not yet been able to confirm exactly where the shooting happened, authorities said.
The name of the man killed has not yet been released pending notification of his family.
The man, who sustained at least one gunshot wound, was dropped off at a hospital about 8:28 p.m. Monday and was pronounced deceased a short time later, authorities said.
Homicide investigators have been talking to possible witnesses and reviewing gunshot detection alert system activations, but as of Tuesday morning had still not been able to confirm where the man was shot, although most indications are it was in East Oakland.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined. No arrests have been announced and no suspect information has been released.
The killing is the 67th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 76 homicides in the city.
