A 62-year-old man in a wheelchair was killed in a hit-and-run crash in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood of South Los Angeles, authorities said Friday.
The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. Thursday at South Vermont Avenue and West 83rd Street, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman.
The victim was rushed to a hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead, the spokeswoman said. His name was not released pending family notification.
Video from the scene showed officers investigating the crash and the crumpled remains of a wheelchair or wheeled walker next to a curb.
Information about the vehicle involved in the crash was not available.
