Man killed, 2 wounded in Greater Grand Crossing shooting

Police are looking for a white SUV involved in a shooting early Thursday that left a 54-year-old man dead and two other people wounded in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

Just after 3 a.m., two men and a woman were in a white car going south in the 7100 block of South Champlain Avenue when a white SUV pulled alongside them and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police said.

A 54-year-old man was shot in the head and back and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he died, police said. His name was not released.

A 48-year-old woman was shot in the chest and a second man, 45, was shot in the left leg, police said. They were taken to the University of Chicago where they were both in good condition.

Area 1 detectives were investigating.
