Man kills 2 in Pomona, leads CHP on hours-long pursuit to Lancaster, authorities say

A 48-year-old man allegedly shot and killed two people in Pomona Thursday afternoon, June 18 and then led the California Highway Patrol on a pursuit that ended in Lancaster with his arrest, authorities said.

Robert Galtman of Pomona is accused of shooting a man and woman at an apartment complex in the 100 block of East Monterey Avenue shortly after 3:20 p.m., Pomona police said.

Officers responding to calls of shots fired arrived and found the two victims in a hallway in the building, police said. They both died at the scene.

CHP officers spotted the suspect at about 5 p.m. traveling north on the 5 Freeway and attempted to stop the car, but Galtman fled and an hours-long pursuit ensued, KTLA reported.

During the pursuit, Galtman allegedly threw items from the car and drove dangerously, swerving past spike strips before officers performed a PIT maneuver to stop him.

The shooting occurred on the fourth floor, they told the station.
