OAKLAND — A man lying on an East Oakland street died Tuesday night after he was struck by a car, authorities said.
The name of the man has not yet been released. He is believed to be 46-years-old and unhoused, authorities said.
The fatal incident happened about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 7100 block of San Leandro Street.
Police said the man was lying in a westbound traffic lane when he was struck by a car. The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Why the man was in the roadway is under investigation.
The driver of the car remained at the scene and provided a statement to traffic investigators, police said.
