OAKLAND — A 37-year-old man was fatally shot outside his North Oakland home Saturday morning, authorities said.
Police have not yet released the man’s name.
According to authorities, the shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. Saturday on a sidewalk in the 800 block of 41st Street, a residential area between Market and Lusk streets.
Police said the man was outside his home on the sidewalk when he got into a confrontation with another man and was shot. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect fled before police got to the scene and was being sought, authorities said.
Investigators are trying to confirm what prompted the confrontation and if the men knew each other.
The killing is the 38th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time, police had investigated 50 homicides in the city.
