A man was injured after being shot in Armour Square Sunday night near the CTA Red Line, Chicago police said.
Police said in a statement that the man, 35, was shot in the buttocks in the 100 block of West 35th Street, near the Sox/35th Street Red Line station, and took himself to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Officers responded at the hospital and spoke to the man, who was listed in fair condition, police said. The gunman fled the scene, police said.
Police initially said the man was shot on a Red Line train at the station after getting into an argument with a gunman who fired shots as the gunman left the train.
But the CTA denied the shooting took place on its property, and Chicago police revised its statement to say the man was shot in the 100 block of West 35th Street without any mention of a CTA train or platform.
