A man was in serious condition after being stabbed during a fight Thursday night near Buckingham Fountain.
Around 11:40 p.m., a 23-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were walking near the fountain in the 500 block of South Columbus Drive when a man approached. They argued, and the argument turned physical, Chicago police said.
During the fight, the 23-year-old was stabbed in his neck with a sharp object, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was in serious condition. The woman wasn’t injured.
The attacker fled north on DuSable Lake Shore Drive, officials said.
Area detectives were investigating.
