A man was taken into custody Friday by a Chicago police SWAT team after he allegedly fired a gun on his boat in Burnham Harbor.
Officers responded to a call of a disturbance about 8:50 p.m. in the 500 block of East Waldron Drive, where a witness said the man appeared to need help. The man, 49, refused assistance and retreated inside his boat, prompting a SWAT response, police said.
He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for an evaluation, police said. A firearm was recovered from the boat.
No injuries were reported. Area detectives were investigating.
