More Homebase stores are set to close (Picture: Shutterstock)
The future of Homebase stores across the UK remains uncertain following the retailer’s collapse into administration in November 2024.
While hundreds of stores were initially thought to be at risk, only 74 were eventually put up for sale as part of the restructuring process.
But administrators at Teneo have now confirmed the next wave of closures, with 33 branches set to shut their doors in the coming weeks. Among the affected locations are Homebase stores in Sudbury, Cannock, and Chester.
In a bid to expand their presence in the home improvement market, B&Q purchased five Homebase stores in November, solidifying its position as the UK’s largest retailer in the sector. Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has also acquired 10 stores, with plans to take over three more.
Homebase has assured that all impacted employees have received at least two weeks’ notice ahead of their redundancies.
