Trains are cancelled, cars are submerged, and more than 160 flood warnings are in place after heavy rain drenched parts of the UK.
Some places are covered in snow after the coldest night of winter so far, with temperatures dropping as low as -13.3°C last night, the Met Office said.
This has closed schools, grounded flights at Manchester and Bristol airports, and left more than 27,000 homes without power in Yorkshire and North East of England
But in other areas, people are contending with another threat – flooding. In some places, this has been made worse by snow melting.
The Environment Agency said: ‘Continued heavy rain today is causing river levels to rise in some areas.
‘Please stay away from swollen rivers. The current can be strong enough to sweep you off your feet.’

In Loughborough, East Midlands, it’s been described as ‘the worst [flooding] the area has ever seen’
The flooding has been so bad, 17 people had to be rescued, prompting Leicestershire Police to declare a major incident.
Rail services are cancelled between Derby and London St Pancras, and between Sheffield and St Pancras, due to flooded tracks.
Across England there are 167 flood warnings, where flooding is expected, and 318 flood alerts, where it is possible. Wales has issued two flood warnings and 11 flood alerts.
