A seaside massage salon has been handed a closure notice over alleged links to prostitution.
Buddhas Hands Wellness in Paignton, Devon, which advertises ‘unparalleled relaxation and rejuvenation’ and ‘personalised care’, was ordered to remain shut until an upcoming court hearing, which could result in its permanent closure.
A police notice on its window says detectives have reasonable grounds to believe the ‘premises were used for activities related to one or more specified prostitution offences’.
It says the closure is ‘necessary to prevent the premises being used for activities related to one or more specified prostitution or pornography offences’.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘This order is being challenged by the tenants and a full hearing due to take place on 18 June at Newton Abbot Magistrates’ Court.

‘We hope to issue a release after that hearing has taken place with full details.’
The shop’s website appears to suggest the salon specialises in Chinese massage therapy, with three types of services available in three rooms.
It states: ‘Our skilled therapists are dedicated to enhancing your well-being through personalized treatments tailored to your individual needs.
‘Many of our clients are medical and health care professionals who report great benefit after long shifts.’
