Cars for careers
The Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) center is hosting its 19th annual Bob McTaggart Custom and Classic Car Show on Friday, May 2, 5-8 p.m., at the Metropolitan Education District, 760 Hillsdale Ave. in San Jose.
Each year, the event attracts hundreds of attendees who come to admire a wide variety of custom and classic vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, trucks and bikes. Attendees play an active role by voting for their favorites in nine categories, including Best Car, Best Car Under Construction, Best Motorcycle, Best Bike, Best Truck, Best Club Participation, Best Engine, Ugliest Car and Best Paint Job in Show.
The show supports SVCTE’s SkillsUSA chapter, a Career Technical Student Organization that helps students develop hands-on skills and leadership experience in preparation for careers in automotive technology and related industries. Previous shows have raised over $10,000 to support student competitions and educational resources.
In addition to showcasing vehicles, the evening also features raffles, prizes, music and food prepared by SVCTE’s Culinary Arts students. Admission is free; for more information, visit https://bit.ly/4ik3zvX.
